Too often, clients come to me having already invested heavily in their marketing and sales and are frustrated they are still not securing coaching clients. The first thing I always say is, STOP!
Stop spending. Imagine trying to get yourself heard across a crowded room by someone who doesn’t even know you’re talking to them. That’s what you’re doing right now! You need to stop and refocus on who you are speaking to, be clear on your messaging, be clear on how you can help them and on why you’re the right coach for them.
What Do You Need To Do As A Coach To Stand Out From The Crowd?
1. Niche
The fantastic skills you learn as you train to become a professional coach will enable you to technically coach anyone and everyone BUT how will your ideal clients know you’re the coach for them?
Imagine if you were searching for a coach yourself, how would you go about finding one?
Perhaps you'd go into your search engine and type in "life coach"... If you do, you'll get over 1 billion results! That really doesn’t help, does it?
So, what next? If you narrow it down by location, you'll still get 1 million results!
By finding the area of coaching which ignites your passions and interest with the area where you can add the most value to your ideal clients, you will have found your niche. Having a clear niche enables you to visualise your ideal client, their needs and ensures those ideal clients can easily find you with the confidence that you are the right coach for them.
2. Get To Know Your Ideal Clients
Once you have a clear niche, you can now start to build up a clear vision of your ideal client so when you walk into a room, be it physically or online, you’ll know who is the ideal client for you.
Visualising your ideal client isn’t as simple as just understanding them demographically, you also need to understand their needs and their challenges. The best way to do this is to research - Find out where your ideal client hangs out and be there too. The more you can connect with your ideal clients, the easier it will be for them to gain trust in you. Ask questions and use those well-honed listening skills to recognise their needs and how coaching can help them.
3. Create Tailored Coaching Services
With a clear understanding of the challenges your ideal client is facing and their reasons they need coaching, creating clearly defined coaching services, can help them to understand the value they will get from coaching with you and what they should expect to get in return for investing their time and money with you.
This really is the final piece of the puzzle! Once you’re clear on your niche and target market, you’ve visualised your ideal customer and understood their needs, you’ve defined your service offerings, you’ll then be able to highlight the right marketing channels where you’ll find your ideal customer.
Why do all this? You’ll save time, you’ll save money, you’ll find more clients and that’s what it’s all about – the more people you reach, the more lives you can help to change for the better forever!
