Successful people remain focused and are always R.E.A.D.Y for success. They are R-esilient, they create an E-nvironment that supports success, they adopt a positive A-ttitude, they are D-isciplined and they know that the only person who can make things happen is Y-ou.
Are you R.E.A.D.Y for success?
R - Resilience
There is a well-known expression - "If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you have always got." With the rapidly and ever-changing world we live in, it is easy for old approaches to fall out of favour and no longer work. Now is the time for coaches to help business owners and individuals realise that change can happen and that the way things have always been done isn’t the only path to success and for goals to be met! As coaches we are the cavaliers that can help. We all need to become more creative about how we find and keep our customers. Don't panic. Don't be rash. Try something new on a small scale and test and measure it first. Resilience is being able to adapt and the willingness to evolve in the face of change.
E - Environment
Are your home, work, and social environments supporting you in your plans and vision of success? Or are there habits, people and ways of living that sabotage your dreams and hold you back? Sometimes we need to ask ourselves what we would be willing to let go of in order to achieve what we want for the future. Most successful coaches know that they need to push and challenge themselves beyond comfortable limits if they are to achieve optimum success and gain the chance of becoming the best they can possibly be. What are you prepared to do or to change, to get the result you want?
A - Attitude
Successful people are upbeat people. It shows in the way they speak and the way they think. When you ask a successful person how they are feeling, they will rarely say 'fine' or 'ok'. They are more likely to reply with 'Great, fantastic, never better.' This kind of positive self-talk has a positive impact on the brain and lifts the spirits of not only yourself but others around you too. Do you have a winning mind-set? Are you feeling positive about achieving success or do you need to adjust your self-talk for greater success?
D - Discipline
When the alarm goes off each morning, do you press the snooze button and start the day with a delay or do you leap out of bed with a plan in mind, ready to tackle the day? Those who reach the top in their profession have two things in common: they value their time and they are self-disciplined in how they use it. Those who want to be R.E.A.D.Y to succeed will do more of the things that will take them closer to their goals, and less of the things that take them further away from them. Discipline is the cornerstone of all other success traits.
Y - You
As we find ourselves in the last quarter of the year - how did / are your new year’s resolutions going? What did you plan to do at the beginning of the year and have you achieved your goals? Will you be able to look back on this year and celebrate your success stories or will you be saying to yourself "Where did that time go?" or "How quickly the year passed". Remember YOU are the driver of your own destiny and success. What actions can you take to ensure you'll be able to say at the end of the year "Wow, that was a good year!"?
