To begin our 'My Client's Success Story Series', we asked TCA's Coach, Judith Quin, to share her story of how Coaching has influenced her clients' lives. We hope you enjoy it
As a professionally trained actress and holistic healer, Judith came to coaching having realised that she had a uniquely placed view and experience of the world and was often in a situation where she was helping clients make life changes.
Having been working with more corporate trainers and in the role of a coach/mentor with many of her holistic healing clients, it seemed a natural step to find a recognised and respected body to train with to develop her skills, so she enrolled and qualified with The Coaching Academy.
What was your profession before becoming a coach?
Before coaching I was, and still am an actress. I was also working as a massage therapist and with sound healing.
Why did you want to become a coach?
I got into coaching through one of my massage clients. She was creating a training program and thought we might be able to work together. When we were working, she asked if I’d had coaching training. I said “no”. Then she said, “Have you had a coach”. Then I said, “What’s a coach?” She then said, “What you’re doing is coaching and if you want to do more of this, you should look at getting qualified and trained so that you have more credibility." So, I went to the Free 2-Day Foundation in Life Coaching Course with The Coaching Academy. And then I knew that it’s what I had been doing for so much of my life.
Most people become a coach to change the lives of others… How has coaching benefited your own life?
Coaching has helped me really connect to who I am. It’s something I’ve always done before, so it’s really given me a structure to be able to help other people. But by doing that, I’m able to connect my acting skills, my sound healing skills, and my coaching skills. Coaching gave me the last piece of my jigsaw puzzle. So, it now means that I feel like I know I have actual direction for my life, rather than a bit of that, a bit of this, and a bit of that.
What was your experience being trained by The Coaching Academy? Could you summarise your coaching experience with TCA?
It was a full-on experience being trained by The Coaching Academy. The best thing about it was going to Latimer for training sessions and meeting everyone. It’s amazing to have a creative and support network with people who are going through the same stuff as you. I did it in under a year and it was full-on. I recommend to take your time. What The Coaching Academy gave me, was ‘remember the basics’.
