7 Tips to create an authentic brand & website that attracts your ideal client

The Coaching Academy Blog

Posted: July 2024

Following on from last week's blog and yesterday's Coaching Conversation “Building a Coaching Website That Gets You Noticed", Liz Ellery wraps up our deep dive into how life coaches can create impactful websites.  Read on as Liz shares with us 7 key tips to help coaches create a website that is both authentic to your true self, as well as being effective at getting you noticed. Whether you're just starting out or looking to revamp your existing site, these tips will help you connect with your ideal clients and draw them in.

Creating a website that highlights your coaching brand and distinguishes you from competitors is an exciting opportunity. With these 7 super helpful tips, you’ll be able to make your site connect with your ideal clients and attract them with ease.

1. Embrace Your Authentic Self

Your brand is an extension of who you are. Take a moment to introspect and identify the core values and characteristics that define you. Are you kind, passionate, funny, straightforward or spiritual? Let these values guide your choice of colours, fonts, and overall branding strategy. Inject your personality into every aspect of your website, from your copy to the design elements. For instance, I want my clients to feel like we could already be friends when they land on my site, so my copy is very chatty, my colours are soft, evoking warmth in my clients.

2. Resist the Temptation of Comparison

It's easy to fall into the trap of emulating successful competitors, believing that mimicking their strategies will lead to similar triumphs. However, true differentiation comes from embracing your uniqueness. Avoid diluting your brand by imitating others. Instead, focus on what sets you apart and leverage it to carve your distinctive niche in the market.

3. Address Your Audience's Pain Points

Many people dislike pain point marketing and prefer a solution-based approach. I believe in both. Many of my clients are coaches and they started their businesses to help others overcome the struggles they themselves faced. So, mention the main pain points you’ve experienced that your clients will most likely identify with too and offer solutions. This builds an emotional connection and authenticity.

4. Simplify and Clarify

In an age of information overload, simplicity is key. Keep your website clean, clutter-free, and easy to navigate. Replace verbose paragraphs with concise, engaging content that quickly communicates your message. Ensure prominent placement of clear calls-to-action, guiding visitors towards desired actions with ease and clarity.

5. Craft Essential Web Pages

Your website should serve as a comprehensive showcase of your brand and offerings. Key pages such as the homepage, about page, services page (and individual offerings), and contact page are non-negotiable. Supplement these essentials with additional features like a blog, resources section, testimonials, and any other content that enhances your brand narrative and fosters engagement.

6. Articulate Your Unique Value Proposition

Boldly proclaim what sets you apart from the crowd. Whether it's your distinctive approach, specialised expertise, or unparalleled commitment to client success, articulate your unique value proposition with confidence and clarity. Showcase your strengths and let potential clients know why you're the perfect fit for their needs from the moment they land on your homepage.

7. Evoke Desired Emotions

Consider the emotional journey you want your clients to experience when interacting with your website. Whether it's a sense of calm, empowerment, or inspiration, infuse your design and content with elements that evoke these emotions. Align every aspect of your website towards creating a memorable and impactful experience that resonates long after the visit.

Putting These Tips into Action

By implementing these website design tips, you'll not only differentiate your coaching brand but also forge deeper connections with your audience. Remember, your authenticity is your greatest asset. Embrace it, celebrate it, and let it shine through every facet of your online presence. Good luck, you’ve got this!
