Renato's journey from makeup artist, to becoming a Regional Education Manager for a beauty brand, to discovering coaching and becoming a Life & Corporate coach, highlights the transformative power of life coaching, read on to find out more....
I am a makeup artist, and I decided to pursue this career because I thought I would enjoy the fashion aspect of it. However, I quickly realised that what I truly love about my job is the ability to make people feel good about themselves and boost their confidence, even if it's just for a moment. I worked hard to develop my skills and eventually landed a job as a Regional Education Manager in the corporate world. However, my perspective changed when I realised that my true passion is not success or moving up the career ladder, but rather making a positive impact on people's lives.
I have reached a new level of self-awareness, which has helped me to appreciate myself more. I now understand that even a small contribution from my end can make the world a better place when combined with others' efforts. By increasing my level of self-love, I have learned to establish healthy boundaries and take better care of myself.
After reading many books about coaching and self-development, I had a desire to become a professional coach. I conducted online research and found that The Coaching Academy appeared to be the most comprehensive and balanced program, offering a combination of theory, practical experience, and constructive feedback. The program looked highly professional and well-established.
I signed up for The Coaching Academy's free 'Introduction to Life Coaching' webinar and then enrolled in the Personal Performance Diploma (now called the Life Coaching Diploma) and the Corporate and Executive Coaching Diploma. I was blown away by every training session, and each one felt like an additional step towards becoming a successful coach. Thanks to my decades-long experience in the corporate environment and the foundation that the Personal Performance Diploma provided, the Corporate and Executive Coaching program was relatively easier.
I quickly realised that one of my strengths is my organisational skills. I had a clear deadline for achieving my diplomas, and thankfully, the Coaching Academy had a flexible structure that allowed me to work full-time and still study for the diploma at the same time. Some courses were conducted during the weekends, or after 6 pm, and I could even attend some webinars during my lunch breaks. I made a clear schedule combining my full-time job and the training, the assessments, the mentoring, and the webinars throughout the year. I was able to complete both coaching diplomas in just 14 months, and the result was even more rewarding than I could have imagined.
At the Coaching Academy, I diligently filled out a Learning Record Sheet for every practice session and webinar I attended. This helped me visualise my growth and development of skills. After just three months, I began to notice a significant improvement in my ability to coach. I felt confident in my abilities and realised that I had the potential to become a remarkable coach. Despite knowing that there was always more room for improvement, I welcomed the challenge because in coaching, there is always something new to learn.
I am thrilled to share my overwhelmingly positive experience with The Coaching Academy's live online training sessions and mentoring sessions. The training sessions were thoughtfully designed, clear, and personalised to suit any learning style. The expert coach trainers were exceptional presenters, and their engaging delivery left a lasting impact. As a trainer myself, I know how challenging it can be to present digitally, and I was astonished by the expertise of Pam Lidford, who delivered a truly transformative training on Values and Beliefs. The mentors were also incredibly supportive, providing clear instructions and guidance whenever I faced a challenge. The live online training sessions and mentoring sessions were a truly inspiring experience, and I will always cherish the valuable learning opportunities they provided.
I am currently engaged in coaching individuals to help them achieve their personal development goals. Additionally, I have created a coaching program that has been successfully implemented within the corporation I work for. This program, consisting of both group coaching sessions and personalised individual coaching sessions, is aimed at equipping the Intern Program with the necessary soft skills required to excel in a corporate environment. I also run my own coaching business (Renato the Coach) part-time alongside my corporate role.
The Wheel of Life is a powerful tool that helps us focus on different aspects of our lives. It can be tailored to any topic, and even identifying eight essential segments can be enlightening. By breaking them down, we can find the one focus that needs our attention the most, leading to meaningful changes in our lives. I recently used The Wheel of Life as a beauty tool to help clients discover their true selves through their makeup routine. By connecting their personality and identity with their preferred makeup style, we unlocked a new level of self-expression. Through prioritising the most important aspects of their life and integrating colours that evoke positive emotions, we transformed their makeup routine into a tool for confidence and empowerment. It's amazing how a pop of colour or a subtle shade can make all the difference, and I'm thrilled to have helped my clients discover their true beauty within.
I have been fortunate enough to receive feedback from individuals who have experienced positive transformations in their lives through my contributions. Witnessing others feel happier, more confident, and successful in their careers based on their own definition of happiness is truly inspiring. Their words, such as: "My coaching journey with Renato made me realize my values", "has given me confidence" and "This has made me feel happier in my everyday life", make me feel good about what I do.
What I have learned in my journey is that it is not about me, but rather about being a guiding force that helps others win their battles. As a kid, I never played the main character, but always saw myself as the sidekick, the Merlin to King Arthur. Finding value in supporting others has been my key to fulfilment.
I am curious about people's values, beliefs, and what motivates them. Coaching is based on the belief that our clients are capable of accomplishing whatever they put their mind to. As a result, their values serve as the driving force behind their actions. Each of us is unique, and I am fascinated by how these values work differently for each individual.
If you're passionate about positively impacting people's lives through coaching, take the first step towards your goal today.
