This week's Coach in the Spotlight is Julie Marsh. Following a successful career in HR ultimately becoming Head of HR for the UK for a global company and a Chartered Fellow for the CIPD, Julie started her training with the Coaching Academy and now has set up her own coaching business (Be You Consultancy) where she specialises in empowering businesses through people solutions.
Coaching for me is an extension of who I am, I am fascinated about people, always curious and wanted to stand on the sidelines and see that individual's progression. I truly believe that curiosity has led me to coaching!
Coaching has really shaped and enabled my own adaptations in life! You learn so much about yourself, as well as the theory and of others.
I am doing The Coaching Academy's Protégé Course, so all four coaching diplomas and chose to do these all at the same time, which has been an interesting experience! The online live training sessions work best for me in the evening and students on the course tend to be flexible around times everyone can practice so that really helps!
I believe the most rewarding part was my own development. Understanding me better and working on my mindset, something I hadn’t planned for when completing the qualification but something I’m so grateful for.
The best resources have been all the other students, the mentoring session and more importantly my coach Claire Cahill (Coaching Academy Coach & Trainer) who I’ve been working with as part of the Protégé course package!
I am a HR consultant and business coach empowering businesses through people solutions. I use my coaching skills every day both in work and personally and it's been such a game changer in the questions I ask and why I ask them.
The biggest area I’m curious in, is NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the mindset and the fact that the map isn’t the territory. We only use a fraction of our brains capacity and if we can start to utilize more than imagine what we all could achieve.
The advice I would give is do it! If you are curious about people, wanting to enable empowerment in others and yourself then do it.
Thank you Julie for sharing your inspirational coaching journey with us!
