Heart-Centred Selling

The Coaching Academy Blog

Posted: July 2022

Imagine packaging up all your ‘heart-centred’ experience, talents, and skills to create a coaching offer to serve and sell to corporates and small businesses. Being entrepreneurial is about taking ownership and taking full responsibility for your ideas - creating them, selling them, and serving others.

When You Read the Word Heart-Centred Selling What Comes Up for You?

Heart-centred selling can be defined as building authentic relationships with your ‘heart’ being at the centre of what you are selling, meaning every part of your sales process is in alignment with your core values. Heart-centred is the desire to be of service to others in a way that’s greater than your desire to make a sale. Through “heart-centred selling you engage yourself deeper in the sales process and cycle. You care and serve. Heart-Centred professionals who lead with their “heart” are connected to their emotions, they are more in tune with their clients’ emotions, needs and values. Heart-centred selling means you serve, have integrity and lead with your heart to empower your clients and help them understand more about your service and offering. You give them the space and time to make a conscious decision that aligns with a genuine need or desire versus rushing them into making a purchase because they’re afraid of missing out.

Do you love what you do but feel uncomfortable when it comes to the sales part, or find yourself avoiding sales conversations altogether because the last thing you want to do is appear pushy?   Maybe you went into business because you want to make a difference but find yourself frustrated and struggling to get enough clients because you don’t feel comfortable applying sales and marketing techniques?   Traditional sales approaches often just “don’t feel right”, and without knowing that there is a different way it’s easy to just avoid selling altogether.  So, is it possible to use a heart-centred sales approach and make sales? YES!

Your service, offer and package will not be right for everyone, but it will be right for the ‘right client’.

How can you find your heart-centred ‘right’ clients?  What is the heart of the selling process?

It’s building authentic business relationships matching your skills, talents experience to the needs, and pain problems of your clients.   Understanding human needs and behaviour and using that understanding to form an authentic connection. By selling with heart, you are creating a long-term business relationship and not just looking out for a quick sale.

For a moment think about the opportunity there is within small businesses and corporates for coaching and the needs that exist.  A structured heart-centred plan contains Systems, Processes, Plans, People, Proposal document which will help you with the relevant actions to take in creating sales. Having a structured heart-centred plan will help you feel confident, give you clarity with purpose and accountability to take the actions you need to take to create sales within your business.

Rejection is part of Entrepreneurship

Rejection can create fear that comes up at the start of heart-centred selling. Rejection in business is something you simply can't avoid.  Even the most renowned business owners have experienced rejection and failure on the way to dominating within their industry. Being tenacious in the face of rejection instead of throwing in the towel can lead your business thriving instead of crumbling.   Rejection makes us stronger. The most powerful motivation is rejection.

Do something every week to develop your relationships and follow up. You will have heard the fortune is in the follow-up. How many times will you follow up?  What are great ways you follow up and what will be authentic for you, your style and personality?

Considerations Along the Way

1. Takes time

2. Patience

3. Lead times longer

4. Budget challenges

5. Opportunity

6. Be ready

7. Build relationships for when the need comes up

8. Testimonials

Questions to Ask Yourself?

  • Detachment from the outcome is a powerful approach to work and focusing on what you can control and what you can’t control?
  • What opportunities do you have to sell to Corporates and Small businesses?
  • Who is in your ‘network’ from your timeline?
  • How could you package up your offer to stand out?
  • What experiences can you package up and sell?

In conclusion, taking a heart-centred approach into your internal world can help you create changes to your external world. It’s time to package up all your ‘heart-centred’ experience, talents, and skills to create a coaching offer to serve and sell to corporates and small businesses.  Being entrepreneurial is about taking ownership and taking full responsibility for your ideas - creating them, selling them, and serving others. How can you take a heart-centred approach to create consistency in your sales and actions?
