Prachi Moharir Bajaj - My journey to becoming a coach

The Coaching Academy Blog

Posted: June 2021

This week's Coach in the Spotlight is Prachi Moharir Bajaj , who found her passion for a positive mindset after experiencing coaching herself. Now, she helps individuals do the same in a broad range of goals, from career change to health-related trauma. Enjoy her inspiring story!

Helping others in need, mentoring cancer patients, guiding people with chronic pain or disease and being a sounding board for friends with various personal issues have been my passion for the past decade. All these roles took shape over the years after having personally gone through diverse situations in my life that were extremely challenging in terms of finances, relationships, career and a few life-threatening health challenges.

After each and every heart-wrenching episode and all those dire situations, I still found myself emerging much stronger and more positive. Hence I was determined to help as many people as I could and spent many hours in a day on at least one of the role plays that I have mentioned above.

However, all this process was time consuming, haphazard, voluntary and mentally draining since I used to absorb everyone’s painful energy like a sponge that eventually started affecting me.

A couple of years back, I came across someone who offered me coaching sessions that turned out extremely beneficial, productive and structured. That episode really enlightened me that by learning this coaching process, I could not only help people in a very structured way but also make them learn to take responsibility for their own actions.

"I realised that we are often incarcerated by our own limited thoughts and beliefs."

By this time I had learnt my lesson of time is money and how much I was wasting in unstructured activities even if with a noble intention. I realised that till now I had always worn a rescuer’s hat that wasn’t really required. Rather it was necessary to help people develop their own intellect and resilience to be self-reliant. Hence, I determined to become a coach myself.

While studying at TCA, I had so many revelations about my own strengths and weaknesses. I realised that we are often incarcerated by our own limited thoughts and beliefs. The finitude of our own imagination and mental consternation, curbs our potential to reach the sky.

The coaching knowledge, resources and tools that I learnt and practised, brought a visible transformation within myself first before I confidently applied it to my clients.

After becoming a certified life coach, I believe that I am like a lighthouse who helps people decipher their own path that may currently be nebulous amidst the fog of either their own circumstances or the clamour of the thoughts in their minds. I only show some light that helps them navigate their own way that they may have lost in the darkness of their situations, irrespective of whether personal or professional. I am now helping people find their inner power and reach their utmost potential.

"The coaching knowledge, resources and tools that I learnt and practised, brought a visible transformation within myself first before I confidently applied it to my clients."

With all my extreme challenging yet priceless life experiences, I was definitely a diamond with tremendous potential to inspire others but I can confidently say now, that coaching is a jeweller that actually polished this diamond to its deserving value without which no one would have valued so much.

I owe a lot to this knowledge that I will always use to help others in the realm of positive mindset, trauma management, especially related to health and relationships, career change and positive perspective shift for a happy mind are my niche areas.

I believe and live the quote; “Change Your Perspective, Change Your Life.”
