What inspired you to enrol with The Coaching Academy?
I made the decision to become a coach as a step forward in my personal development process. I started this process in 2008, when I made another decision: to trust in myself and to always follow my full potential. In January 2017, I attended The Coaching Academy’s Free 2 Days course and it was a confirmation for me that I could and really wanted to become a professional personal performance coach. I was inspired by the TCA trainers and I really enjoyed the practical coaching activities. I am currently doing my second diploma with TCA - Coaching within Education as I felt that in the future I would like to work with children.
What was your profession before becoming a coach?
I have had many job titles until now from theatre worker and a police officer in Romania to security and traffic controller for the Crown Estate in London and a couple of other jobs. I always hoped and persevered towards discovering who I really was and what I wanted to do as a profession.
What was the most rewarding part of your training/journey?
The most rewarding part of my coaching journey with TCA was the chance to meet likeminded people and find out their life stories. I also enjoyed the reciprocal coaching as it helped me to learn how to set clear goals and take action. Furthermore, I really enjoyed the Live Training Days where I was able to, through practical activities, work on myself.
How did you fit coach training into your busy life?
I explored my weekly schedule and wrote down the amount of time I was ready to invest each week to get the qualification before undertaking the training.
Where are you now? How are you using your coaching skills?
I am trying to implement some of the ideas that came during my study. I am using the coaching skills I learned in my daily life. However, I also realised that my main focus is to do as many coaching sessions as possible to polish these skills. Therefore, this is a clear focus of mine at the moment.
What is your coaching niche and why did you choose it?
My coaching niche focuses on professional and personal performance. I like to work with motivated people and enjoy working with people who would like to start a business. As there are a lot of people who are unhappy in the wrong career path or feel that they can do more.
I am building my coaching business that I’m passionate about – a dream I’ve had for so many years. Through coaching, I came to realise that I have to work a lot on myself to change my beliefs, as moving on from being an employee to being self-employed or a business owner is a shift in the way of doing things.
In October, my coaching partner and I are launching a webinar using coaching skills and tools to inspire and support people who want to change their lives and live their dreams. Apart from this, I run as many coaching sessions as possible. In this sense, I am promoting my service on different coaching directories and also speaking with people about what I'm doing.
Your top tips for …
For someone who is looking to become a qualified coach:
I would suggest being very clear about why you want to become and maybe try TCA 2-Days workshop.
For those currently training with TCA:
My advice is to set a deadline and just finish the diploma even if is not perfect.
For the nearly qualified coaches:
My top tip is to continue to practise coaching after qualifying even for free.
