How did you become a coach?
I’d been coaching very casually, I suppose in my previous employment when I was running my own day nursing business and then when I worked for the local authority. I looked at life coaching probably about 15 years ago and I’d obviously read the wrong information and I didn’t like the sound of it. When I found out a bit more about it, I thought it would compliment the kind of work that I do anyway.
What was your experience being trained by The Coaching Academy?
I’d have to say it’s been highly motivational. I came to The Coaching Academy at a crossroad in my life. I’d already made a decision about working independently and setting up another business. TCA’s Free 2-Day training really helped me to focus and get my business off the ground.
I’ve really enjoyed the Live Training days. The course is really interactive and everyone is highly professional. Every phone, email, or face-to-face interaction with The Coaching Academy has been very organized and very polished. It’s fun as well as professional.
How has coaching helped you?
It’s made me much more focused on my priorities in life. It has also helped me find out a lot about myself, some good, some bad and understand how I behave. It’s helped me to able to work more effectively and communicate more effectively with others.
How did you build your client base and get your first client?
Initially, I spoke to ex-work colleagues about what I wanted to do going forward with my new business Early Years Advocacy. I asked them if they’d be willing to be Guinea pigs and after that it was through word-of-mouth.
Then through the work that I was doing with early years & childcare providers, business owners, etc., the support work gave me the opportunity to suggest coaching for some of the more junior staff, and in fact it’s worked very effectively.
What are your top tips for coaches getting clients?
What would you say to people thinking of enrolling?
Do it! Just go with it. If you want a really interactive experience, fun, professional, fast paced, this is the training for you. The course is very practical. You can meet loads of new people and the programme is really comprehensive, but also varied to meet the needs of all types of learners. It really hits the spot and is very engaging. I think, take the plunge and go for it. It’s a really enjoyable journey!
