I Found My Calling - by Monika Czuj

The Coaching Academy Blog

Posted: December 2017

At first, it was my personal situation that motivated me to enrol with TCA. When I became a young woman, I found myself in a challenging position.

At the age of twenty-two, I became a single mother and I had little or no support. I felt like I had to carry the world on my shoulders, because the overall circumstances were harsh. In the most difficult moment, I decided that no matter what I would handle everything on my own. And I did. Step by step.

But, in the inside, something felt not right. The time was passing by and I was trapped in the limiting fear which I assume was the consequence of my past experiences. I worked in the educational sector in Poland, which was a safe option, especially for a single mum, but quickly I realized there was a huge gap between where I was and where I wanted and dreamt to be. I was always a very ambitious person and I never pictured myself living the traditional lifestyle. Although I was trying different kinds of interventions, nothing really helped until I discovered Coaching. That was like a blessing! I started learning on my own about it and I had a series of coaching sessions with a coach from Canada. I made very important vows with myself then and Coaching helped me to move on.

After that experience, I took a closer look into myself and realised that I always wanted to have a job that was meant to help others. I strongly desired a change in my career and environment so starting a coaching course felt like a natural next step. Although I worked as a teacher in Poland, I loved London. When I came across TCA's Free 2-Day event, it took a blink of an eye to decide to attend it. I clearly remember Pam Lidford, the first amongst the TCA trainers talking passionately about overcoming limiting beliefs. All I could think of whilst listening to her was, ‘I want to be like Pam’!

The course takes you out of your comfort zone and it’s practical-oriented. Thanks to the TCA team’s feedback during the assessments, you can actually see how you grow. You take the responsibility for your studies but the flexibility that TCA offers and their supportive approach make you feel really taken care of. I think anyone can fit it into their busy schedule. I had two, sometimes three, jobs here in Poland and I was raising my daughter on my own. Not to mention studying at nights and finding slots for coaching. But it was never a problem. I guess it’s never a problem if you meet your calling. The weekends in London were so educational, uplifting and people amazing. I made a few valuable friendships, which last until today. I received more positive feedback and positive energy than I had ever got in my entire life. I thought it was a great lesson in life, time management and setting priorities. And my daughter was observing and participating in that process, which has been so valuable and important for both of us. So, was it easy? No. Did I have to sacrifice a lot? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

My personal challenges didn’t magically disappear but now I feel like there is no obstacle which I cannot deal with. To me the real success is success with self. Every day I observe women around me, I talk to them and I see that they often lack the strength or support to move on with their lives, break the old chains that make them unhappy and stuck. They ask me about my ‘magic’ power. The idea of my coaching business, now-she.com, comes from my passion to support them. I’m working very hard on my brand, my offer and its quality. At the moment I’m in the process of moving to London and I’ve got loads of exciting plans and ideas. I was also nominated for The International Coach Of The Year Award and The Best New-comer of The Year Award and the ceremony was amazing.

I will never be afraid to dream big, not anymore. And that is my message to you. Work harder than everybody else, aim for the highest standards, tie yourself to your limitless potential. If you really think coaching is a career for you, you will find your ways to become a coach. I hope that my personal story can show you that, if you face obstacles there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome. I’d like to say that sometimes, when you are in a dark place, you think you’ve been buried, but actually you’ve been planted and one small step in the right direction may end up being the biggest step of your life. Sometimes, you just need to be patient but do not give up. Never give up! It doesn’t matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going, and the universe always listens to the stubborn hearts.
