Spring has arrived, a time for sunnier days, blooming flowers and new beginnings; it’s also a time when many people choose to ‘spring clean’ their homes.
Spring cleaning is a great way to de-clutter but it doesn’t need to be limited to just your home; there are also ways that you can extend your cleaning to other areas of your life so that you can make space for brighter days!
Below are 5 ways that you can spring clean your life:
1. Clear your schedule
Maybe you are finding yourself losing valuable time that could be spent with friends and family with a to-do list that seems longer than your arm. This could be completing anything from your chores to staying on top of your workload, if you run your own business maybe it’s because you are spending precious hours trying to catch up with admin, invoices or networking. Make a list of your tasks and consider whether you would be able to delegate any of them to someone else, so that you can free up more time. Maybe you could hire a cleaner to come in once a week, a virtual assistant to manage your admin or someone that you can outsource your accounting to. Reviewing your tasks can help you to get a better understanding of where you are spending most of your time and provide you with insight that can help you to find ways to lighten your load and spend more of your time doing the things you love.
2. Clear your mind
Have you got so caught up with your responsibilities lately that you’ve stopped taking time out for yourself to clear your mind? If feeling in a state of overwhelm or you currently feel like you’ve got a lot on your plate consider taking a time out for yourself. Consider going to a yoga class, for a walk in nature or running yourself a hot bubble bath. When you take some time out for you, you allow your mind to feel clearer and calmer allowing you to feel ready to tackle the world.
3. Clear your conscience
If you feel guilty for not spending time with those you love or for something else that could be weighing you down, clear your conscience by doing something nice for that person or extending your kindness to others, maybe you could get involved in some voluntary or charity work, or visit an elderly person with a bunch of flowers. When you do nice things for other people, it can also make you feel good too.
4. Clean up your goals
Maybe you set some new year’s resolutions that didn’t make it past January or the action steps you planned to take have been put on the back burner. Re-evaluate your goals and make a specific list of actions that you plan to complete along with a time frame of when you’d like them accomplished by. When you take time to shift your focus back on to your bigger picture, you’re more likely to reignite your motivation to make it happen.
5. Clean up your habits
Have you allowed yourself to get stuck in unhealthy habits that drain your energy? Maybe it’s eating foods that leave you feeling tired and lethargic, watching TV shows that fill you up with feelings of negativity or spending time around people who seem to zap your energy. Consider what habits you would like to change and what steps you can take to put yourself back into an optimum state.
Spring cleaning your life gives you the opportunity to make room for more of the things you love so that you can move forwards, overcome any challenge that life throws your way and fill your life with more happiness!
