What did you enjoy about training with The Coaching Academy?
I was so excited after attending the 2 day taster that I made an application for a place and I was really hoping that I would be accepted onto the courses I wanted to do. I got accepted and loved being in the training room and meeting all the fabulous people who I trained with. We really supported each other along the way and I made some great friends from all over the UK who I still keep in touch with.
What profession were you in before Coaching?
My background was in Marketing and I worked as a Brand Manager in the luxury consumer goods sector before embarking on my training as a Coach. I trained in Personal and Corporate coaching and now specialise in working with professional working mums focusing on their career development and work life balance.
Has Coaching given you a sense of purpose and if so, how?
Training as a coach gave me back my enthusiasm & focus in life. I found the training at the best time for me. Making a positive choice to do something different that I wanted to and was in control of was really exhilarating.
How has a career in Coaching benefited your lifestyle?
Coaching has enabled me to create and enjoy a portfolio career that suits my varied interests & needs, and doing something that feels meaningful. Being a mum of twins it really wouldn’t have been a viable option for me to go back to an employed role, so it was ideal that I had qualified and set up my own coaching business before I had a family. I was able to work flexibly around my family commitments, essentially still being a full time mum yet working part time in the evenings and some weekends to run my coaching sessions and benefit from the rewarding nature of the work. Coaching has also provided me with an income that I can grow along with a flexible work pattern that increases depending on the time I have available. I’d say coaching is a great skill which can help improve family life and relationships as long as the tools are applied in a subtle and natural way.
How did you make the transition to become a full time Coach?
I started studying coaching whilst working full time and was then given the opportunity to work part time which I combined with completing my Coaching training as quickly as possible, I then set up my coaching practise as soon as I was qualified and went on to start building my business. My coaching training & developing my own business from scratch has given me the confidence to branch out and build my own perfect portfolio career encompassing all my skills & experience.
What difference has Coaching made to your life?
Coaching has transformed my life as it has given me so much. I am now much more confident in a variety of situations. I love seeing the power of Coaching in action and it has transformed my thinking, plus I have so many more interesting conversations now. I am much more focused and ambitious than I was and I regularly set and achieve my own goals, it has also improved my relationships and I love being supportive of others which I find really rewarding.
